If the author is to be believed, Somerset is the most beautiful and varied county in England.  To confirm this view, Paul, Roxie the Longdog and a rich assortment of friends walked the borderline of the County starting at the Bristol Channel coast.  After traversing the high moors in the west, the rolling grasslands of the south and the woodlands of the east and north, they turned west again along the broad back of Mendip to return to their starting point.
